referred by other lawyers, accountants and financial planners. We have
successfully attracted tax and superannuation lawyers from the Australian Tax
Office and large accounting houses since 1994.

2. Estate Planning, Taxation and Superannuation Practices – Perth
Are you running your own practice by yourself, or with partners in
these areas of practice? Brett Davies Lawyers is seeking to purchase law firms
(or parts of law firms that work in these areas) to be “tucked into” the Brett
Davies Lawyers’ practice. Partners are welcome to continue full time
indefinitely and build their practice, part time or leave. There is also plenty
of opportunity to wind down your hours of practice over an agreed period. It is
a perfect opportunity for a law firm owner to realize value for their lifetime’s
work and protect loyal staff and clients.
If your law firm is about to ride a wave of growth then we can
structure the remuneration to fully value that future growth.
What is the value for older Partners selling their practice into
Brett Davies Lawyers?
Payout any partner loans, from proceeds of WIP and debtors and cash
purchase price and dividends from shares
Reduce risk by removing personal guarantees for loans, overdrafts
and leases for the practice
Put floor on income via salary – also sick leave, annual leave and
long service leave
Passive income from dividends and opportunity for capital growth of
the shares
Reduced reliance on one form of income being 100% share of profits
of the practice
Through the profit sharing and expected growth in profits of the
practice, increase overall income in the medium term (above what currently
earning, with less risk)
Receive fair capital value for your practice now, rather than
later. A value that you might not have otherwise got. Continue to grow and
gain greater income from the practice
Succession planning - younger equity partners and senior
associates, through a more corporate approach are able to move up to add to
and where required, replace retiring partners. Partners can leave with
dignity and with proper succession, as they see fit
Why would younger Partners want to sell and join Brett Davies
Lawyers?
Increased personal growth, professional development and
opportunities
Achieve higher growth in the business and therefore, through profit
share, higher income
Get bigger using tuck-ins, employee share schemes, and lawyers
moving within the group (rather than being lost to the group)
Get better by sharing Best Practice – sharing systems and knowledge
by each Member Firm. E.g. Standardised marketing materials for Member Firms
to present, pursue and target their own ‘tuck-ins’
Get Broader by getting work from other Member Firms – many middle
sized practices don’t work in all areas and therefore may lose work, this
work can now be kept in the group
Best Practice encourages the institutionalising of the clients by
allowing non-partners to service clients thus increasing the principal’s
leveraging (increasing rate of more fee-earners per principal). The
Principal is encouraged to manage and financially reward for increasing
profits rather than hoarding clients and work – greater corporate approach
Above reasons for older practices: reduce risk
No cost of moving into a principal profit sharing position – equity
position without capital
Transparent succession planning and Path to Principal allows
orderly transition. This encourages lawyers and senior associates to work
through the system to get to Principal level at a Member Firm, while
receiving proper and fair valuation through salary and the Employee Share
Scheme
Orderly and documented Succession Planning allows older partners to
retire to make way for younger partners, without any short term upheaval or
adverse affect on profits
We expect that within 3 – 5 years you move back to what you were
earning before the sale – plus you keep your purchase price, the shares in
ILH, have no cost of capital and get annual leave, sick leave and long
service leave.

with $200k to $3m in annual revenue. Added value is achieved where the
principals demonstrate a growth strategy going forward under the Integrated
Legal Holdings model and be able to win family law business from other
Integrated Legal Holding Ltd’s other law firms across Australia. Achieved growth
is well rewarded. Although less value is realized we also purchase practices
where some or all of the partners wish to retire.
